Are you looking for some ridiculous mods for GTA 5? There are more than just cheats and trainers. The modding community is bursting with useful tweaks and crazy modifications.
If you’re considering adding a few little non-developer-approved improvements to one of the best open-world games, take your pick from our list of the best available.
One word of caution. Many of these mods use’memoryhooks’ to allow them to alter the basic game mechanics. If you attempt to play GTA Online while having them installed, you will be quickly banned for suspicion of cheating. If you plan to switch between GTA Online or a modified GTA V single-player experience, we recommend having a separate installation. Also, make sure to back up all your game files before making any changes. Alternatively, if you’re looking to spice things up in multiplayer, head over to our GTA RP server guide, apply to join a roleplay server as an NPC, and live out your dreams of roaming the streets as a vigilante grandma.
How can I install Grand Theft Auto V Mods?
It is very easy to install GTA V mods. Simply copy the mod files that you have downloaded to the main GTA V folder. This will be the case if you are using the Steam version.
Similar. If you don’t want to use the Steam version, then you will need to locate the main game folder and the GTAV.exe file.
Some of the more complex mods require the installation of additional tools, such as Script Hook V. You’ll need to download Script Hook V, open the .zip folder and find the ‘bin’ folder, and copy and paste the three files into the main Grand Theft Auto V folder. You can find installation guides and sometimes full installers on the mod download pages.
Although these advanced mods may not all work together, you have the best chance to install them successfully when using the vanilla game base. If you haven’t been paying attention, you shouldn’t try to join GTA Online using a modded version of the game unless youre a glutton who enjoys digital punishment.
The Festive Surprise mod brings a bit of Christmas joy to Los Santos. Trevor, Michael, Franklin and Michael each receive a fancy red Santa Hat and there are Christmas trees all over the map to help you get in the Christmas spirit.
Feast your eyes upon the beautifully refreshed streets of Los Santos with new weather, skies, and a multitude of lush 4k textures courtesy of GTA V Redux. This is not a simple visual overhaul. Redux includes tweaks to vehicle handling and a reconfigured police force, enhanced weapon feel and behaviour, as well as more sophisticated NPC behavior.
LSPD First Response
Although the phrase “It’s like a new game” is a cliché, LSPD First Response turns GTA V into one among the most enjoyable police games. You’ll need to go to the police station to create a character, then you will be sent out on the streets to respond to robberies and other dynamic crimes. You can now see what it is like to be at the end of a police chase.
The World of Variety
World of Variety adds vehicles and assets from GTA Online into single-player GTA V to make the world look and feel more alive and varied – that includes the fancy cars from the latest GTA V DLC.
ATM Robberies & Bank Heists
Satisfy your criminal cravings with ATM Robberies & Bank Heists, perfect for that handy injection of funds when the bank balance gets a little low. You can use this mod to steal cash from any one of the 47 ATMs, or any 10 banks. However, you will need to flee to a safehouse in order to protect your money.
This mod overhauls gameplay and puts you in the shoes a procedurally generated Avatar that must fight against NPCs on a shrinking map. Sound familiar? Complex Control, inspired by the best battle royale game, is a challenging and fun addition to the game.
GTA Open All Interiors
Grand Theft Auto V’s Los Santos is huge. But there are still many areas that you can’t access. You’ll often see large tourist attractions that appear to be accessible, but are locked when you go up. This Open All Interiors mod makes plenty of previously locked buildings explorable, just for a little added authenticity.
GTA Gravity Gun
Since Valve introduced the Gravity Gun to Half-Life 2, manipulating objects at zero-G was a popular feature in almost all modding communities. This is GTA V’s Gravity Gun mod, and it does exactly what you expect it to. Be careful when you are hurling cars.
The Simpsons Springfield Police Pack
Police are often associated as keeping order and fear in unruly cities and towns. It doesn’t have be this way. The Simpsons Springfield Police pack replaces the fuzz’s various vintage cars and subs them with the various vehicles you recognise from Springfield. Unfortunately, there is no sign of Chief Wiggum.
GTA Basic Needs
It’s quite obvious that if you are a PC game but not a survival sim then you are doing it wrong. The ‘New’ tab in Steam suggests that. Make GTA V a survival game by adding some Basic Needs to the game. Enjoying fun is just as important as eating well and sleeping well, so make sure to keep your eyes open and take naps.
GTA Fuel Script V
To add a touch more realism to your urban sandbox, why not make vehicles burn fuel? You won’t be able to go on a wild chase if you don’t have enough fuel.
GTA 5 Trucking Missions
Euro Truck Simulator is one of the most loved games on the PC. It proves that we love doing mundane tasks for no pay. Trucking Missions brings the joy of Euro Truck to Los Santos and the surrounding area, which thanks to lax gun laws and the local meth-head population is a far more dangerous/exciting world than the motorways of Europe.
Red House missions and heists
Grand Theft Auto V has plenty of missions. But you will eventually run out. Thankfully modders are here to keep you well stocked, and The Red House adds more than twenty new missions including assassinations and gang clean-outs to the game, plus a new heist.
Everybody else has zombies in their games, so why not GTA. This mod allows you to fill the streets of Los Santos with crowds of the walking dead for round-based survival. For bigger and better rewards, defeat each successive wave of corpses.

GTA Car Jetpacks
We still don’t own flying cars in 2020. It’s a problem in the real world, but not in virtual Los Santos, where with a little bit of coding you can stick jetpacks on cars. You can ignore traffic jams and still get there on-time.
GTA V almost feels like an RPG with its rich story, large world and length. Don’t settle for almost though; swap genres entirely with this GTA RPG mod. This mod adds a questing system, character creator, and branching dialogue trees to the game. Forget about making big bucks, make big XP instead.
GTA Iron Man armour
You don’t have to drive around Los Santos with a car. Instead, you can put on exoskeleton armor and fly high into the sky. That’s exactly what you can do with this Iron Man armour. Because it has repulsor blasters in its chest and palms, it’s also useful for gang warfare. If the war escalates, you could always upgrade to the chunky Hulkbuster variant.
Icenhancer was GTA IV’s champion mod. This graphical mod made Liberty City seem genuinely real. If you’re looking for a similar effect in GTA V, R*enhancer Photorealism is the way to go. This lighting upgrade adjusts atmospheric effects to improve car reflections. It really enhances the feeling.
GTA Funny Vehicles
No one wants to drive normal cars, even if it’s the fastest car in GTA 5. In real life, you can do it. We want to drive a DeLorean DMC-12 speed machine, a Batmobile or something from The Flintstones. Simply copy and paste a few files and you can drive all these cars and more in GTA V.
GTA better deformation
Because no one can drive well, there are a lot of car crashes in GTA V. There aren’t any twisted door pillars or engines hanging from the bodywork. Better Deformation makes an art form of car destruction, and encourage you to take less good care of your vehicles.
Crime & Police Rebalancing and Enhancement
All it takes to accidentally hit a cyclist using your wing mirror, and the cops will chase you down. You won’t be able to get away with a caution if you don’t dial 911. You’ll go to jail and be filled with bullets. While this may seem like a realistic representation of US police, it isn’t fair gameplay. Crime & Police adjusts the detection system; an NPC has to report your crime first, and you can prevent them from dialing. Speed is a factor in enemy accuracy, so they won’t hit you with pinpoint precision during a car chase. Silencers are more effective and allow you to perform stealth missions more effectively. The logical level of your desired level is higher; a single star will not get you the whole LSPD.
Take the GTA 5 Train
How can you drive the train in GTA 5 It will not stop. It doesn’t feel anything. It is a sort of physics-defying, metal snake. Install this script however and you’ll be permitted to hop inside the cabin and take over control of the train. You can speed up or slow down. Stop. Stop. You have all the major train driving options. It’s a bit janky, though.
GTA 5 Nice Fly
This one lets you fly around like some kind of superb man. Safety is the most important aspect of this parachute.
No Water + Tsunami + Atlantis Mod
Rockstar’s effort in designing Los Santos’s seabed is proportional to modders’ efforts in naming mods. That said, the “No Water + Tsunami + Atlantis Mod” allows you to edit the game’s sea level to either drain the oceans or flood the city, turning it into either Mad Max or Waterworld, respectively.
GTA 5 Pedestrian Riot
Hearkening back to the old days of Grand Theft Auto 3’s cheat codes, the Pedestrian Riot mod causes all civilians to be aggressive towards you and one another. They are also equipped with random weapons that can cause all sorts of unpredictable madness. You can climb to a safe height and watch as the city crumbles.
GTA 5 Native Trainer
Another trainer, so technically a cheat more than a mod, but Native delves deep into the source code of GTA V to allow you to turn on and off a variety of interesting settings. Do you want to feel a bit of low gravity? You can bunny-hop down Vinewood hills by hitting the on button in the game menu. There are no risks to your health and you will have huge jumps. You can also swap out your character models to become a cat.
North Yankton GTA
An extension for the Native Trainer, this unlocks the Fargo-like area of North Yankton. This is the location where the game’s prologue is set. It is not accessible from Los Santos. This mod will allow you to unlock the borders and take you back there.
GTA 5 Virtual Reality
Los Santos is the only game world that can be seen in virtual reality. You can run GTA V in VR using VorpX and the FoV mod mentioned above. Although it’s not perfect, it allows for a comfortable armchair trip to digital LA.
SweetFX GTA graphics enhancer
Not strictly a custom GTA V mod, SweetFX is a graphics post-processing injector that adds a variety of fancy visual effects to games. Although it can be used on almost any game, tests with GTA V have shown that it works flawlessly. This enhanced look eliminates some of the game’s drab feel and provides bolder, deeper colours.
GTA Mode Trainer
If when you think of mods your brain automatically points in the director of infinite health, ammo, and money, then not only are you a big cheater, but you’ll want to have a look at this trainer mod. You’ll be able to walk too slowly and reload guns without worrying about running out of ammunition. You’ll also be able to teleport across the map, eliminating the need for driving cars. This will allow you to play the other half of the game.
GTA OpenIV Tool
If making mods is more your thing, you’ll want to get your hands on OpenIV. This is the tool used to access and modify the Max Payne 3 and GTA IV game files. However, some clever PC gamers managed to unlock GTA V.
GTA Vice City Remastered
Vice City is brought into the modern age with this GTA 5 mod. It features a complete remastering from Lunchxbles. Tommy Vercetti can be added to Vice City with a separate mod. This will allow you to step back in time to the neon-dashed waterfront that captured 80s Florida so well.
